List Of Broker-Assisted Trading Fees

List of broker-assisted trading fees charged by major discount online stock brokers. Which brokerage firm has the lowest broker-assisted trading: Merrill Edge, Charles Schwab, Fidelity, Etrade, TD Ameritrade, Scottrade, CapitalOne Investing, Ally Invest, Optionshouse, Wellstrade/Wells Fargo, Interactive Brokers, and TradeStation.

Every discount brokerage firm charges a different price for its services. Today's average price for an online security trade placed by investors through a discount broker's trading platform is less than $10. Unlike online trading, broker-assisted trading requires assistance of an actual trading expert and therefore has a higher cost.

There are not as many firms nowadays that do not charge broker-assisted trades. In fact, OptionsXpress and MB Trading (which is now a part of Ally Invest) are the only two brokerage firms today with no fees for broker-assisted trading. Optionshouse used to belong to this list in the past too, but the company recently set a $25 fee.

While some brokers have one fee for broker-assisted trading of any security, other brokers have a different broker-assisted fee for trading different securities. Also, some brokerage firms add up a broker-assisted fee on top of online trading commissions.

Here is a list of fees for broker-assisted trading charged by the leading discount brokerage firms.
