Webull Overview

Webull joins the ranks of Robinhood and Firstrade as another no/low-cost broker, however as a trade-off to the free trades they leave a lot to be desired in other areas of their platform. This article will give a high-level overview of the pros and cons that set Webull apart from the competition.

Free Trades

As we alluded to, trading at Webull is always 100% commission-free (except for the tiny regulatory and exchange-mandated fees that all brokers pass through to clients). There are also no minimum account requirements or account maintenance fees, making Webull one of the lowest cost brokers we’ve covered.

What Can I Trade?

As a trade-off to their free trades (there’s always a trade-off), Webull’s investment capabilities are quite limited in scope. Their platform only supports U.S.-listed stocks and ETFs. That’s right - options, mutual funds, bonds, and futures are all off-limits to Webull clients.

WeBull Review: Investing

Trading Platform and Tools

All trading on your Webull account has to happen through their mobile app because they do not have a web or desktop-based platform. Similar to the Robinhood app, Webull offers basic company information, such as news headlines, financials, ratings, and charts to help you make more informed investing decisions.

Virtual Trading Tool

One neat feature that we fell really sets Webull apart from the competition in a good way is their virtual trading tool, which allows you to place practice trades online without using your money. This would be helpful for new traders that want to get as close to the real “trading experience” as possible without actually risking any money.

Customer Service

Webull’s customer service is as you might expect it would be when considering that you’re not paying anything to trade. They have a decent help section on their website with answers to the most common questions. For any questions you couldn’t find answers for in the help page you can use their in app messaging service. Unfortunately, we couldn’t find a phone number to get live assistance.

Summary

Overall, WeBull is a good platform for intermediate to advanced traders who want to make trades on the go. Since there is no access to mutual funds, bonds, or other advanced investment products, it’s probably not fit to be the ultimate solution for all of your financial needs.

However, it’s good for investing on the side with a smaller portfolio of swing trade or mad money stocks. The built-in research tools are excellent and users can get all the data, financials, and charting tools they need to execute trades with confidence. The customer service is decent and responds quickly. Plus, deposits are covered by insurance from both SIPC and Apex Clearing Corp, so investors can rest easy knowing their assets are safe. WeBull even provides a free stock with an opening deposit! With free trades, no account minimums, and insured deposits, there’s no reason not to try it.

If you can overlook trade execution that leaves something to be desired, you may find that WeBull is an underlooked but excellent option in the no-cost, zero-commission retail brokerage market.
