Citigold Private Client Introduction
Although Citigold already comes with some attractive perks, Citi has also built Citigold Private Client for customers with greater wealth needs. This relationship tier is meant to deliver a broader set of financial services for affluent clients who want deeper support.
Possible Services at Citigold Private Client
Because high-net-worth (HNW) groups and individuals often need more complete money management, Citigold Private Client offers a wide variety of services to help create a more rounded financial picture. These services are offered through a licensed financial advisor who is part of the client’s dedicated wealth team. The list of available services is broad and may include:
- Charitable planning
- Alternative investments
- Trusts
- Services for institutions
- Assistance with home lending
- Estate planning
- World Wallet Currency Exchange
- Customized investing solutions
- Educational events
- Concierge service
- Personalized financial plan
- Travel and global benefits
- High-end banking services
- Insurance products
- Small business services
- Lifestyle experiences (entertainment, sports, culture, behind-the-scenes experiences, and more)
- Cash back on monthly subscriptions (examples include Hulu, The Wall Street Journal, and Costco)
- One year complimentary membership to Citi Bike (in New York City)
Just in case that list isn’t quite long enough for you, most categories have subcategories with even more possibilities. For example, the alternative-investments platform can include items such as hedge funds, Separately Managed Accounts (SMAs), customized notes, and Initial Public Offerings (IPOs).
Premier Banking
Private Client customers receive a long list of banking perks. Citi does operate Citibank, after all. They can receive higher limits on mobile check deposits, for example. Debit-card purchases can also come with increased limits, and ATM access is enhanced as well.
Some banking fees are fully waived. Examples include stop payments and money orders. Incoming and outgoing wire-transfer fees are waived, and standard checkbook orders are free as well. Interest rates on mortgages and consumer lending products are reduced by 0.25%.
Citigold Lounges
Citigold and Citigold Private Client customers have free access to Citigold lounges, which are located in the United States, Singapore, Hong Kong, and the United Arab Emirates. These locations offer complimentary coffee and Wi-Fi, device charging, offices to meet with financial advisors, invitation-only events, unique experiences, HD TV, bottled water, espresso machines, and more. The exact list of services varies by location. The specific lounge locations can be found using Citi’s Lounge Locator.
Citigold Culture Pass and Concierge Service
Private bank customers of Citi have access to a concierge department that provides help with tickets, vacations, and travel reservations. These are booked through an email address (goldconcierge@yourconciergecenter.com).
The Culture Pass program provides complimentary access to select cultural attractions in New York for eligible Citigold and Citigold Private Client customers.
Citigold Private Client Minimums
Citi customers who want to join the Private Client program are expected to maintain
at least $1,000,000 in combined average monthly balances within eligible Citi deposit, retirement, and investment accounts. New-to-relationship customers can start in the tier right away, but they generally must reach that balance range within three calendar months to keep the tier. Customers who can’t quite meet this target can instead join the regular Citigold program, which is designed for clients with
$200,000 or more in combined average monthly balances.

Citigold Private Client Fees
Neither program, Citigold nor Citigold Private Client, charges a monthly service fee on the checking account while the relationship-tier requirements are being met. In fact, both of them include discounts or waivers on many banking services, so clients in either tier can save money. Regular Citigold clients don’t quite receive the same number of premium services, though.
Customers in either program may be eligible for subscription rebates on popular annual services.
Private Client members can earn up to $400 back per year, while the standard Citigold program has its own separate rebate program for eligible customers.
Accounts of either type that remain below the required balance range for three consecutive calendar months can be re-tiered to a lower relationship tier.
Opening an Account
A Private Client relationship can be started by contacting a Wealth Relationship Manager. For U.S.-based customers, the online branch locator is one possible place to begin. Be sure to select ‘Relationship Manager’ under the filter menu when searching; not all Citi branches offer Citigold services. Citi also has an online form that can be filled out and submitted to request a call back from a Private Client associate.
Regular Citigold customers can open accounts either at a local branch using the method specified above or over the phone at 888.248.4465. Some regular Citigold accounts can also be opened online.
Software
Upscale clients who sign up for Citi’s private-client tier will be able to use the company’s website and mobile app to manage their accounts. Contact details for the dedicated financial advisor will appear there. There are a variety of other tools as well, including funds transfers and securities order entry.
Customer Service
Besides local relationship managers at Citi branch offices, Citigold Private Client has a dedicated service desk for U.S.-based customers. The dedicated phone number for Citigold Private Client is
888.500.5008, and representatives are available
24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Citi also has general support channels available around the clock for many account-related matters.
Other countries will have different setups. Hong Kong, for example, has branches that provide service to regular Citibank customers. Only certain locations, however, provide service to Citigold customers, and just a select few offer service to Citigold Private Client customers.
Citigold Private Client Review Verdict
Although we found its customer support structure to be somewhat confusing at times, Citigold Private Client does offer a broad lineup of attractive services that affluent clients should seriously consider. With many waived banking charges and wealth-management benefits, it may be worth a look.
