How to Delete a moomoo Account
If you are a moomoo customer and want to close your account, there are a few simple ways to do it. The process is straightforward, but there are some important details to be aware of before you begin.
Read on to learn more.
Available moomoo Account Closure Methods
When you decide to close your account, you have two main options. You can either request account closure through moomoo's support team, or you can set up a full account transfer, which allows you to move your eligible assets to another brokerage before closing the original account.
Here are the details of each account closure method and the steps you need to take to successfully close your account.
Manual moomoo Account Closure
A common way to close a brokerage account is to do it manually. The process involves liquidating all your assets, transferring your money out of your account, and then submitting a request for account closure. The process is simple, but there are a few things that could prevent your request from being processed.
First, it is important to know that the account must be in good standing before moomoo's account management team can process your request. If you owe any money from fees, margin calls, or margin borrowing, those debts must be settled before you can close your account.
You must also bring your account to a
$0 balance. Even if there is $0.01 in your account, the broker cannot close it until the remaining balance has been removed.
When your account is ready, simply email support at
cs@us.moomoo.com and request closure. You can also include a reason for closing your account.

Automatic moomoo Account Closure
Another option is to request an
ACATS transfer through another broker. When you select a full transfer from moomoo, all eligible assets are transferred to the receiving brokerage. However,
moomoo restricts trading in the original account for 180 days after the transfer, and any nontransferable assets may require separate handling. You can contact moomoo to request account closure after the transfer is completed.
While requesting an ACATS transfer is easy, it is helpful to know how to prepare your moomoo account for the transfer.
To begin with, ensure that your account doesn't have any unsettled funds or transactions. Bonus offer payments, deposits, and trading activity may have settlement or holding periods. Once funds and transactions are fully settled within your account, you can proceed with the ACATS transfer request. The receiving broker must initiate the transfer using
Futu Clearing Inc., DTC number 4272, and your 16-digit moomoo account number.
Another consideration for moomoo users is that not all brokers support foreign securities. If you own global stocks, check with the receiving broker about transferring them. Moomoo's ACATS transfers support
whole shares of U.S. stocks and ETFs, eligible options, and cash. Fractional shares and options expiring within seven business days cannot be transferred through ACATS.
moomoo Transfer Fees
It does not cost anything to close your account at moomoo. However, depending on the method you use to close your account, there are some transfer and withdrawal fees to consider.
When manually closing your account, you must transfer funds out.
ACH withdrawals are free, but domestic wire transfers incur a
$20 fee, while international wire transfers cost
$25.
If you opt for the automated account transfer method, the main fee you will face is the ACATS fee. moomoo charges
$100 for both full and partial outgoing ACATS transfers. A separate outgoing stock transfer through the DTC Free of Payment (FOP) system costs
$75.
