Moomoo Real-time Streaming Quotes and Level 2 Quotes

If you’re looking for a place to trade with free real-time data, Moomoo may be the broker for you. Here are the details:

Quotes at Moomoo

Moomoo offers both real-time data on stocks and Level II quotes as well. Real-time quotes and Level II data from NYSE ArcaBook are completely free for U.S.-based customers. Fees are charged by Moomoo’s parent company, Futu, Inc., and pricing could vary by an account’s national location.

Level II quotes from other exchanges in the United States do carry fees. For example, Nasdaq TotalView is $20 per month, while CBOE Direct Edge costs $24 per month. Discounts are available on annual packages.

The above information is for stocks only. Moomoo does charge for real-time quotes on option contracts. OPRA quotes are $2.99 per month.

Real-time data on Singaporean and Hong Kong stocks carry various fees, depending on the package chosen.

Using Real-time Data on the Desktop Platform

A good place to start on Moomoo’s desktop platform is the Quotes tab. Just click on this tab (located in the left-hand vertical menu) and you’ll see a list of stocks appear right next to the vertical menu. It’s possible to add or delete entries quite easily. Besides U.S. stocks, equities that trade on the Hong Kong, Singaporean, and mainland Chinese exchanges are also available.

Last trade price, dollar change, and % change update in real-time in these lists. Red indicates that a stock is down for the day, while green indicates an up day.

Prices and other data points do not stream across the platform. Therefore, these quotes, although they are real-time quotes, are not technically streaming.

Clicking on any entry in the Quotes list will automatically populate a detailed quote section on the right-hand side of the platform. Besides last trade price and bid and ask numbers, many other data points are updated in real time. These figures include:

- Market cap
- P/E ratio
- Volume
- Bid/ask ratio
- Float cap
- Price/book
- Time & sales data

In between the left-hand and right-hand columns is a graph of the selected asset. The graph also updates in real time.

Moomoo level 2 data

At the bottom of the right-hand column sits a window for Level II quotes. The top 10 quotes from ARCA will be displayed here by default. The number can be increased or decreased. Besides bid and ask prices, the quantity of them is also shown.

A house icon directly above the list of quotes contains other exchanges if you have subscribed to them. A depth chart can also be added to show the order book in graphical format.

At the very top of this window are blue and orange bars. The blue bar shows the percent of orders coming in that are bids, while the orange bar represents ask prices. These update in real time showing buying and selling pressure.

Clicking on a specific bid or ask price will automatically populate Moomoo’s order ticket.

Besides the Quotes tab, other areas of Moomoo’s trading platform display real-time data. For example, the Markets tab displays lists of stocks by various categories such as Hot Stocks or AMEX. Data points in these lists that update in real time include:

- Price
- $ change
- % change
- YTD change
- Bid and ask prices
- Bid and ask volumes

Using Real-time Data on the Mobile App

In addition to its really good desktop system, Moomoo also has a powerful mobile app. As with the desktop platform, a good place to start on the app is with the Quotes tab. This time, it appears at the bottom. Tap on this and you’ll see a list of stocks (it’s the same list that is on the desktop program because the two sync with each other).

Tap on any entry and you’ll get most of the same data that appears on the desktop program. You’ll need to scroll down to see the Level II numbers. The depth chart is not included in the mobile platform. Also, tapping on a bid or ask price on a stock’s profile won’t populate the app’s trading ticket. You’ll need to tap on the orange Trade button first and then set up your order on the ticket or tap on a bid or ask price in the Level II field that appears at the bottom of the ticket.

The house icon has been replaced on the mobile app with a field that simply says NYSE ArcaBook or whatever exchange you’re looking at. Tap on this to toggle among exchanges.

Explanations of Moomoo’s real-time data service will be found on both platforms. Just tap or click on the small icon with the letter “i” in it to pull up the educational page.
